Southern Utah is a wonderland of photographic opportunities. With 5 National Parks and numerous National Monuments and State Parks, the variety of landscapes is tremendous. In October of 2012, I visited a couple of my favorite parks: Arches and Capitol Reef. Arches contains many wonderful artifacts carved by the hands of the weather: wind, rain, snow, and ice creating a literal zoological garden of forms and features, most of which are readily accessible to most visitors and vehicles.
Capitol Reef, on the other hand, appears to be a smaller park with less variety of forms, but when you get off the main roads, watch out! There are sights to delight the eyes as well as the soul. From the lightly traveled areas of Cathedral Valley in the north with magnificent sculptures of sandstone called "Cathedrals" to the south end of the Waterpocket Fold which is a geologist's delight!
These are just a handful and faint copy of the delights that are Southern Utah!
The Arches images begin at number 1 and the Capitol Reef images begin at number 18.
